An unfinished statue by Leonardo was used for archery practice. While he was working in Milan, Leonardo started work on a statue of Francesco Sforza, the father of his patron, Ludivico Sforza. But he never completed the bronze casting. When French soldiers invaded Milan at the end of the 15th century, the bowmen used the unfinished model target practice. In doing so, they destroyed it.
