Did You Know....? - All At Sea
King James 1 was a passenger in the first submarine. Designed by Dutchman Cornelius van Drebbel, it had a wooden frame covered with greased leather to make it watertight, and was fitted with oars. Van Drebbel managed to row 15ft below the surface of the River Thames.
