Warren Beatty's first job in show business was as a rat catcher. The National Theater at Washington DC, had been plagued by rats (one had even bitten an actor) and the cast persuaded the management to employ an official rat catcher. So 17 year old Beatty, desperate for any kind of job in the theatre, agreed to patrol the alleyway at night.
