The Russians invented the "Dog Mine" in the Second World War. The plan was to train dogs to associate food with the undersides of tanks and so, with bombs strapped to their backs, to wreak havoc on the German Panzer Divisions. Sadly the dogs associated food solely with Russian tanks and forced an entire Soviet division to retreat. The master plan was quickly scrapped.
