Notorious for his acts of barbarism, Genghis Khan did have a more sensitive side. Once he was about to have an enemy executed when he realised that the man was an old childhood friend. So Genghis canceled the execution and instead had the man rolled in a carpet and kicked to death.
Genghis Khan's cavalry rode female horses so that his soldiers could drink the animals milk.
Timur the Lame was a descendant of Genghis Khan and inherited many of his less savoury personal traits. He enjoyed playing polo with the skulls of those he had killed in battle. On another occasion he had 5000 people beheaded so that he could use their heads to build a pyramid.
