Stolen MacBook Update

Oakland police have recovered Josh Kaufman’s stolen MacBook after he posted webcam pics of the thief on a Tumblr blog called “This Guy Has My MacBook.”

Yesterday, it seemed like the site might be a viral ad for the tracking app Kaufman used, but today it appears there really was a thief, and he’s actually been busted … but not before Kaufman posted one more pic of the culprit sleeping on the couch.

The bust itself was pretty cool: Kaufman read the thief’s email and found out he was a cab driver, so the police tricked him into picking them up. It would have been cooler if the OPD had gotten involved back in March, when the computer was originally swiped, but better late than never.
