Best Mum in the World

Craftster user sabrinalouisemiller put her craft skills to good use this Halloween, dressing her six-month-old daughter up as the TARDIS, and finishing off her husband’s 10th Doctor outfit with a homemade Sonic Screwdriver.

That would be geeky enough, but it gets geekier: the TARDIS is built to scale! Sabrina just did the math and baby-sized the time machine.

Doctor Who Movie Speculation

John Barrowman says he’d love to play Captain Jack Harkness in a Doctor Who movie … as long as it stars David Tennant

“I think that Torchwood, more so than Doctor Who, lends itself to being a big film because it’s more adult,” he said, in an interview with Irish broadcasting network RTE. “Now if it was Doctor Who with David (Tennant) playing the Doctor – I’m going to get in trouble for saying this – I’d happily do a film with him.”

Although a Who movie seems unlikely due to the same BBC budget woes that ended Doctor Who Confidential, Barrowman is probably right that he’s going to be in trouble with fans.

Matt Smith’s 11th Doctor has plenty of supporters, and it would be a controversial move not to cast the current Timelord if a movie did somehow happen.
Of course, there’s still a chance, and a much more realistic one, that we’ll see both Tennant and Smith sharing the screen in a big Doctor Who 50th anniversary event.

And, by the way, Barrowman says he wants to be part of that, too. Keep your fingers crossed, Captain Jack fans.

The Sonic Screwdriver in Action Movies

Patrick Willems — director of the DC Relaunch Spoof and White Luke Cage — proves how absolutely unfair the Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver would be in an action movie.
Remember, the Doctor is up against an entire universe of lifeforms with bizarre powers not normally seen on Earth. A regular villain — even a regular villain in a cool fez — doesn’t stand a chance.

Doctor Who Cast Video

Series 4 of Doctor Who had one hell of a wrap party, judging by the videos the cast made to mark the end of the Tenth Doctor era.
First, there’s the entire cast and crew, from David Tennant to the show’s accountants, doing a lip dub to the Proclaimers’ “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” … with a cameo by the actual Proclaimers (Tennant is a big fan).

And then there’s Tennant, John Barrowman and Catherine Tate singing a hilarious musical tribute to showrunner Russell T Davies and producer Julie Gardner. It pokes fun at Davies’ original reluctance to do the show, Gardner’s hair, and Barrowman’s habit of flashing people on set.
When Matt Smith finally leaves the show, the current Who cast is going to have a hard time topping this.

Dr Who Comes To Android Via Game App

If you are a fan of Doctor Who and one of the Android faithful you can now get your Doctor Who and Amy Pond gaming fix via a new Android app called Dr. Who – The Mazes of Time released by the BBC that has the last of the Time Lords and sidekick Amy Pond battling one of the doctor’s worst enemies, the Daleks.
The Dr. Who – The Mazes of Time app for Android has the user playing as the doctor or as Amy Pond in this puzzle game trying to rescue a family that is attacked by a rogue Dalek and back through history. As you chosen character you follow the family through time and space.
The Dr. Who – The Mazes of Time game take the user to such places as the ancient Incan temples, the frozen tombs of Telos and even a finale on a Dalek mother ship, and of course there is the doctor’s trusty sonic screwdriver available to help out.
As the user makes their way through the levels of Dr. Who – The Mazes of Time they need to solve puzzles and defeat enemies along the way to restore peace across time.

The Dr. Who – The Mazes of Time for Android devices features 7 unique locations, in excess of 100 challenging levels, increasingly complex environmental challenges to challenge your mind and reflexes, the ability to use different strategies of stealth and subterfuge to complete levels and defeat such enemies at Daleks, Cybermen and Silurians.
There’s also authentic music from Dr. Who, and the first set of levels in the mobile game are free and further level packs are available to purchase and download with each pack unlocking new monsters, new challenges, and new sets of levels.
The Dr. Who – The Mazes of Time app for Android devices running Android 2.1 or above is available to download as a free app from the Android Market.

Being a Dr. Who fan obviously I just had to download the game to my Samsung Galaxy S, and spending just a couple of minutes with the game it seems quite challenging, the only thing I found a bit of pain is that when opting to be the doc and moving onto another level, you have to go back and get Amy as she doesn’t follow automatically.

Doctor Who Mashup Tee

James Hance saw the Doctor in a cowboy hat (Stetsons are cool!) and River Song in a spacesuit and put two and two together for this Doctor Who/Toy Story mashup tee.
Let’s give a warm Amy’s Room welcome to … River Lightyear?!

Doctor Who Extras

The four-minute Doctor Who story “Death is the Only Answer” aired during the final episode of the BBC’s recently-cancelled behind-the-scenes show Doctor Who Confidential

It was written by a group of schoolchildren and produced during this season of Confidential, and it’s the first time Einstein has appeared in an episode of Who since 1987.

The other big part of the Doctor Who Confidential finale was a River Song chronology told by River herself, Alex Kingston. It explains, once and for all, the convoluted relationship between River’s timeline and the Doctor’s.

You can check out a rundown of the chronology at io9, but, as River would say, “Spoilers!”

Doctor Who Christmas Special Casting News

This year’s Doctor Who Christmas Special will feature four British guest stars.

Entertainment Weekly reports that actors Claire Skinner (Life Is Sweet), Arabella Weir (The Fast Show) and comedians Alexander Armstrong and Bill Bailey will be along for the Doctor’s holiday adventures.

According to the BBC, Skinner’s character and her children will find themselves in “a draughty old house, where the caretaker is a mysterious young man in a bow tie, and a big blue parcel is waiting for them under the tree.”

A bowtie? Bowties are cool.
