Did You Know....? - Bottoms Up!

Perrier water bottles were modeled on the shape of Indian clubs. Recuperating from a car accident, Englishman St John Harmsworth, brother of newspaper magnates Lord Northcliffe and Lord Rothermere, visited the French spa town of Vergeze in 1903. There he was introduced by his doctor, Louis Perrier, to the local spring, said to have been discovered by Hannibal. Recognising the commercial possibilities of the water, Harmsworth decided to purchase the spring and bottle it. He named the water after Dr. Perrier and molded the now famous green Perrier bottle on the Indian clubs he had been using to strengthen his arms and back following the accident
