Friday Man Babe - David Tennant and Matt Smith
In honour of it being Doctor Who day on my illustrious blog, we have 2 Man Babes today - The 10th and 11th Doctors, David Tennant and Matt Smith!!
While attending Paisley Grammar School, he wrote an essay on how his greatest desire was to play Doctor Who on TV.
Chose his acting surname from Neil Tennant, singer with Pet Shop Boys. This came after reading an interview with Tennant in Smash Hits shortly after learning that he would have to change his professional name in order to join the actors' union, Equity, as there was already a registered member with his real name, David McDonald.
Is only the 2nd actor to play The Doctor in the whole run of the show, both old and new, to have been born in Scotland.
Says his favorite Doctor from the original Doctor Who was Peter Davison, who reprised his role as the Fifth Doctor alongside Tennant in the Children In Need special episode, "Time Crash".
Matthew Robert Smith is an English stage and television actor. Smith became an actor after a football-related back injury. His first performance was in Murder in the Cathedral as part of the National Youth Theatre.
He became a professional actor in 2003, notably starring alongside Christian Slater in Fresh Kills and Swimming with Sharks.Smith's first television role came in 2006, as Jim Taylor in the BBC adaptations of Phillip Pullman's The Ruby in the Smoke and The Shadow in the North . His first major role in television came in 2007, as Danny in the BBC series Party Animals, and his first West End theatre role came in the same year in Swimming with Sharks, followed a year later by a critically acclaimed performance as Henry in That Face.
In late 2008, Smith was cast to play the eleventh incarnation of the Doctor in the British television series Doctor Who, beginning with the show's fifth series in 2010.

I'm lovin' you're Dr Who theme, Quasi - it's got to be my fellow Scot David Tennant all the way, no competition! I can see the charm of the other one (can't quite remember his name - not bothered enough to slightly move the comment box to check), and can see how people think he's good. But they're wrong. Plain wrong. That's not an opinion, it's a FACT! David Tennant showed a far more sophisticated, MATURE, Timelord. The other one is gawky, and though neither of them are really my type, I'd go for David Tennant any day. His Doctor had a much better sense of humour too.
Sorry, was a a bit vague on my preferences there?
Abide! BND
I have to agree with you, I am a huge David Tennant fan, he brought out a side to the Doctor that made him enjoyable for just about anyone to watch, and his occasional show of absolute arrogance made it even better
Yup, the arrogance on top of humour is one of the reasons why Scots guys are soooooo incredibly sexy! Think Ewan McGregor, as well. AND both of them have VERY cheeky smiles. *sigh* Soz, you've started me off here on a fav topic. I blame it all on Quasi (plus, I'm a computer illeterate trying to build my first lens at Squidoo, and this is a very worthwhile excuse for me to avoid getting on with it!)
